The RiverMuse architecture has been designed completely from scratch – no re-working of old technology, no squeezing of square pegs into round holes – it is designed specifically to address today’s complex and dynamically changing infrastructures.

Products

Overview

The RiverMuse commercial open source development and distribution model manifests itself in its current product line-up:

  • RiverMuse Core: a free and fully functional open source event and fault management offering under GPL3
  • RiverMuse ES: a subscription-based support and service offering over RiverMuse Core
  • RiverMuse Pro: Planned for early 2010, Pro is an advanced subscription-based event and fault management offering that will add powerful desktop console and change management functionality to Core.
Product features

The RiverMuse products share the same underlying agile architecture designed without the constraints of legacy systems to address the issues of change, virtualization and cost of operations. The primary differentiators of the platform include:

  1. Two-Tier Data Model: RiverMuse’s two-tier data model separates the concept of ‘data’ [Events] from ‘information’ [Alerts].
  2. Content Integrity Protection: Building upon the two-tier data model, the content of all events mediated into and conditioned by the system, is protected.
  3. Business Logic Integrity Protection: Where dependent business logic rules form models that describe ‘behavior of a system’, new business logic rules are added to content of alert messages, rather than changing the original, thus protecting the functionality of any pre-existing rule.
  4. Unified Conditioning Service:  All automations, transpositions, enrichments, and correlation rules are applied to a common service layer using a single business logic configuration language.
  5. Dynamic Variables in Business Logic: By enabling business logic to contain variables, the behavior of generic rules can be adapted by, and synchronized with, changes from any external data – to a central RiverMuse location and leveraged throughout the platform.
  6. Consistent and Centralized Business Logic Management: RiverMuse rules are managed from a central point irrespective of the architectural distribution.
  7. Multi-tenancy: The core system has been designed to intrinsically support a multi-tenant configuration for managed service. providers and large enterprises with shared services.
